Job Description

Responsible for clinical supervision and oversight of social work services to patients and families. Provides counseling services, mental health assessments, and disposition planning as appropriate to individuals, families, and groups to promote positive adjustment to medical conditions and adherence with medical treatment. Is a part of the comprehensive multi disciplinary health care team. Provides operational and clinical supervision to assigned social work staff and proactively communicates with Manager to address any opportunities or concerns. Implements special projects as assigned by the Manager. Provides leadership for the department in the absence of the Manager. Interfaces with other hospital staff to ensure coordination, communication, and monitoring for the social work services. Provides backup support to social work staff to ensure appropriate staffing to meet the needs of the department and services to the patient and families. Works collaboratively with other department leadership to ensure the provision of quality work services to the hospital.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum two (2) years Health care or related setting as a social worker required
  • Minimum two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience which demonstrates proficiency in the skills and knowledge required to perform the job required
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years Working with families and children and previous experience in an administrative and supervisory capacity desirable preferred
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills in computer applications, assessments, interventions, counseling, treatment, case management, discharge planning, and crisis intervention
  • Knowledgeable about grief and loss, child abuse, mental health disorders, family systems theory, and social work practice in a health care setting
  • Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with various professionals as well as with parents/patients with vary education and backgrounds

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree from an accredited school of social work required
  • ASW - Clinical Social Worker - Association required
  • LCSW - Licensed Clinical Social Worker from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences license preferred
