Job Description

This position works under the supervision of the Plant Services Manager. The Utility Engineers maintain the hospital building equipment, interior walls, flooring, ceilings, furniture, restroom fixtures, televisions, DVD players, doors, door hardware, locksmith work, lighting, bed, crib, gurney repairs and vehicle maint. The Utility Engineers are also first responders to Code Red alarms, perform fire drills, check egress lighting, smoke stop compartment systems, maintain medical gas cylinder inventory, repair/replace med gas outlets, perform department moves, perform maintenance on refrigerators, freezers, ice machines and assist with any on or off campus functions.

EXPERIENCE:

  • External Candidate Requirements:
    • A minimum of three years hospital and/or commercial building maintenance experience required.
  • Internal Candidate Requirements:
    • Knowledge of hospital facilities.
    • Basic plumbing skills.
    • Proper hand tool usage.
    • Understanding of Infection Control Basics.

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma as accredited by the US Department of Education or GED required
  • California Driver’s License required.
